Can You Use Soap And Water To Clean A Cars Soft Top Roof?

I am maddening to find out whether its ok to clean my Ford Streetka's roof with soap/water or whether I will damage it and have to use a special cleaner?

I've tried a million times, you have to use a individual cloth-top cleaner. I don't know what the magic is, but it works MUCH better than soap and water.

What should I do now, I don't yearning to reflush and fill? What could the affects be?
