I have a '94 Mazda Protege, handbook transmission. When I start the car, I hear a loud squeaky sound - its sort of cyclical. (It sounds like something is spinning). I'm told that it could be a sash or a broken water pump. The engine temp. is also
to see if it's your sash squeeling let the car idle and while squeeling take a glass of water and pour it on the belt and if the noise goes away you have a bad across, if the noise doesn't go away you will know it's the waterpump.

if your water pump is bad you will see coolant dripping from around it. Sounds to me like you have a Larger leak or a blown head gasket. If the engine oil looks like chocolate milkshake after you send it, then its the head gasket. Fill your radiator up
